Antique Coffee Tables

Coffee tables are a product of the middle of the twentieth century and therefore not really part of the antique realm. However, adaptations have been found especially with boxes or trunks from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. These were essentially the precursors of the modern suitcase and were an essential item when travelling. These days, they form not only great storage function at the back of a bed, but can be very useful as coffee tables and have been keenly sought after as such over the last thirty years. Chinese and Japanese traditional tables can also successfully be used as coffee tables because they were originally designed for people sitting on the floor.
